Boarding a Plane. How to Go Through Airport Check-In?

Check-in Time.

Try to arrive at the airport early: this way, you'll have enough time to complete all the registration formalities. Each airline sets its own passenger check-in deadlines. For example, check-in for flights at Chișinău Airport begins 2 hours before departure. Registration for the flight typically ends 40 minutes before the time indicated on the ticket.

What to do at the airport?

You need to have a document confirming your identity and your ticket with you. If you are traveling with children, you will also need to present a birth certificate for each child at the check-in counter. Passengers traveling together as a company or family can present all documents together – this way, you'll get adjacent seats. Upon arrival at the airport, check the electronic display board, which shows the number of routes, check-in times, and check-in counters. Approach the corresponding counters and have your tickets and documents ready. Note that passengers traveling first class and business class are served without queuing or at special counters. After checking your documents and tickets, an airport staff member will hand you a boarding pass, which will indicate your seat number, written in the waiting area, and the gate through which you will board the plane.

What is online check-in?

Modern technology allows for online check-in via the Internet. For example, check-in for Air Moldova flights starts 23 hours before departure and ends 1 hour before departure. After such registration, you will receive a boarding pass on your mobile phone. You need to print out this boarding pass – you can use special devices located in front of the pre-flight registration line (passport control). This ticket must be presented when checking in baggage, when boarding, and to the flight attendant when entering the aircraft. If you have additional checked baggage besides your carry-on, you should drop it off. Keep in mind that usually only one piece of baggage weighing up to 23 kg per passenger is allowed. If your baggage weighs more, you will have to pay the difference in weight.

Have a pleasant flight!
